Travellers taking cheap flights to Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, could have celebrated the anniversary of the country's independence at the unique festival of bread and sweets.
The Uzbek feast, which was held in the capital's Bobur Park, marked 20 years since the country stood proud as a nation in its own right.
As well as the plethora of breads and pastries, national spirit and Uzbek customs were all on display.
The celebration was attended by a number of high-profile dignitaries, including the deputy minister of culture and sport and the director of the Republican International Culture Center.
Hamidulla Zahidov, an elder of the Sheyhantaur district of Tashkent, told UzA: "Different regions of our country bake their own unique types of bread, which indicate the deep roots and identity of our people."
Indian chef Sylvester Gomez claimed that the "special flavour of Uzbek bread amazes and delights".
Travellers heading to Tashkent with Uzbekistan Airways who missed the bread festival still have the opportunity to take a number of cultural and historical tours of the region.
