Those who book Ethiopian Airlines flights to Addis Ababa might find that vacations in the African nation are "strange and compelling".
This is the opinion voiced by Jenny Barchfield in an article for the Associated Press, in which she highlighted the spectacular scenery and abundance of wildlife as two of the main attractions to holidaymakers.
"A trip to Ethiopia … is less like a sojourn in Africa than a visit to some far-flung island," she commented.
She recommended taking at least two weeks to explore the nation and visit sites such as the island monasteries of Lake Tana and Lalibela.
People who enjoy exploring the urban landscape might find plenty to do in the capital Addis Ababa, which she claimed has a "decadent nightlife".
Last week, author and historian Dan Cruickshanks told the Daily Telegraph that Ethiopia was one of his favourite overseas destinations.
