Brits planning a cultural break in September may want to purchase tickets to Papua New Guinea with Air Niugini in time for the Goroka Show.

The event takes place between September 16th and 18th and is a gathering of clans in the country and a spectacle that few will want to miss.

Competitions are held to measure the drumming and dancing skills of those taking part, some of the most famous of whom are the Asaro Mud Men.

First held in 1957 at the Independence Park opposite the main market in Goroka, the gathering has become a tourist spectacle offering visitors with flights to Port Moresby a unique chance to gain an insight into local customs.

In the past, as many as 40,000 painted warriors have converged on Goroka to participate in the show.

Those who book Air Niugini flights may also want to visit some of the other tourist attractions in Papua New Guinea, such as the Rouna Falls and National Museum and Art Gallery.
