The Colombian Transport Ministry has confirmed that the brand new terminal being built at Bogotá–El Dorado International Airport is set to open as planned, with construction due to be completed in late June 2012.
The new 84,000sqm facility will initially be used for international flights, but plans have been developed for the addition of two new concourses which allow the addition of domestic flights.
The current airport is the home base of Colombian National carrier, Avianca and currently handles 20.4 million passengers per year.
