Avianca of Colombia are making two strategic moves to enhance their route network within Latin America.
The Colombian Airline has announced that it will be be placing Avianca flight numbers on a number of routes operated by its sister airline, OceanAir of Brazil. Destinations to be covered will include: Salvador, Brasilia, Belo Horizonte, Porto Alegre and Florianopolis. At the same time Avianca have also revealed that they are in talks with TACA of Central America about creating a new Latin American Alliance. Avianca Chief Executive, Fabio Villegas, is quoted in recent official documents as saying: "Avianca and its shareholders are carrying out conversations with Grupo TACA with the aim of sealing a strategic alliance that would allow synergies and improve the position in the markets the companies serve."
