Ethiopian Airlines flights to Addis Ababa might be in demand after author and historian Dan Cruickshanks tipped the country as a top holiday destination.
He advised those booking breaks abroad to research the country they go to and said people who want to venture off the beaten track should seek the advice of someone who knows the region.
Some careful planning can avoid the need to waste time looking into activities and places to visit while on holiday, he added.
When asked about his favourite break, he said Ethiopia was one of the highlights of his travels
"It's reasonably easy to get to and relatively safe to wander about. I love the landscape, the culture and the people," Mr Cruickshanks explained.
This comes after non-profit organisation Tourism in Ethiopia for Sustainable Future Alternatives described the country as "unique", noting that it has an "unparalleled" landscape and ancient religions.
