Air Fiji has ceased flying operations and its 200 employees face the prospect of redundancy. The airline has been serving both the local community and tourists since 1967 and at the time of closure flew to 13 destinations with eight 15-seater aircraft and one six-seater aircraft.

It is possible that the Government backed carrier will re-start and local press reports say that talks are continuing between the managment team and representatives of the Government.
