Aeropelican was originally founded back in 1962 as an air charter and flying school and scheduled services began on 1st June, 1971, with an 8-passenger Cessna 402 aircraft. Since those early days the airline has changed ownership several times ever surviving administration in 2001 and being acquired by the current owners in 2002. Coming through those turbulent times has given Aeropelican a greater resilience and currently they have commercial partnerships with Rex Regional and the mighty Flying Kangaroo-Qantas Airways. These agreements allow Aeropelicans passengers to through check to any destinations on the REX and Qantas domestic Australian network from when flying from Newcastle-Williamstown, Tamworth, Inverell and Sydney.

Aeropelican’s present fleet consists of 3 BAE Jetstream 32 aircraft seating a maximum of 19 passengers with a cruising speed of 477 kph and each is crewed by one Captain and one First Officer.
Small Airline, big on scenery....Aeropelican’s flights from Newcastle to Sydney offer 45 minutes of scenic splendour. The flight path generally takes a slightly inland route across Cooranbong, Wyong and the Hawksbury River before entering into the Northern suburbs of Sydney , across Sydney Harbour and landing at Mascot airport. As the aircraft operate at a max of 5000 feet passengers really do get a fantastic aerial sightseeing experience and regular travellers never tire of the views the get in both directions. We strongly suggest that you invest in the airfare rather than taking the bus or train, after all what do you see at ground level compared with the included aeriel panoramas you will enjoy with Aeropelican.
