Avianca-TACA, the Latin American airline group which has just announced that it will be joining the Star Alliance, have also announced that they will acquire 100% of AeroGal, the Ecuadorian airline. This transaction is expected to close by end of this year and AeroGal has already been accepted by Star Alliance.
"The addition of AeroGal to Avianca-Taca group is an important step to become the best service in the region for travellers not only from Latin America" said Fabio Villegas CEO of Avianca –Taca group.
AeroGal currently has 35% of Ecuadorian market, with a fleet of 13 aircraft operating to 11 destinations, of which nine are international cities.
Once Avianca-Taca including AeroGal, has been integrated into Star Alliance, customers of the Alliance’s 31 members will have access to more than 22,500 daily flights serving 1,292 destinations in 188 countries.
